Er, what has changed majorly is that the NSW Government recently bought the light rail system and the monorail from the private operator.

It did this to shut down and demolish the stupid monorail, and so as to expand the light rail line as part of Sydney's transport system (with the same fare structure etc).

A very major development in favour of expanded light rail.
