I think one can accept the ride quality if the seats are OK - the ride's not exactly terrible, just poorer than the V sets. As for toilets, I understand that the gentleman's top hat was the receptacle of choice in 19th century NSW prior to the introduction of the "express lavatory" cars. I don't know what the ladies did - the stoic dears probably just "held on" as they do now. Baseball caps would be a poor substitute for top hats now. Anyway there's no food or drink available on the OSCAR so if you're starved and dehydrated you're less likely to want to go and you can't leave your seat anyway because someone will take it!
