L 103 Essendon Airport
  Graeme Farrar

From the Graeme Bennett Collection.

L 103 in service City bound on route 59 and a sliding door car
approach's the new Essendon Airport terminus after alterations were
completed removing the turn into Essendon Airport original terminus.

Tullararine Airport was in full operation at this time and Essendon
Airport was a mere shadow of its former self.

Removal of this road crossing with the alterations to the roadway to
freeway standards, must have been a positive for safety to both trams
and road traffic.

Note the tracks are still visible in the roadway where the turn into the
Airport was.

This area has been altered so much now it is hard to tell just where the
tracks use to go, G.Farrar.
